Update the Software File

 

This screen is used to update information about your software inventory.

A SW ID field is automatically created each time you add a software record.  A drop down list will let you select the computer on which the software is installed.  Another drop down list is provided to let you look up the Application Name.  After recording the version number for the program, you can quickly select the Software Vendor, and the name of the person assigned the program.  The Manufacturer name can also be looked up using the drop down list, this may or may not be the same as the Vendor. 

 

 

Purchase information can then be recorded.  The acquisition type is usually either Purchase or Lease.  You can also record the date of the purchase and the cost of the license for the software.

 

You can also record the License Type (site, per seat, etc), Serial Number and CD Key if any.  You may also record the Purchase Order and Invoice Number as well as indicating if there is a Support Contract (Y or N) and a Contract ID and Expiration Date.  A final field is provided for any free form notes you might want to record.

 

New in version 2.59 is a Print button that will print a report that looks very much like the screen you are using to edit the record.
